Czechoslovakia machine pistol of iconic design made in 1959 by Miroslav Rybář. It does have faults but at the same it is reliable with low recoil and good damage in close ranges.
–In-game description

The Škorpion vz. 61 is a Czechoslovakian Machine Pistol. It is unlocked at rank 87 or can be purchased with credits.

History[]

The Škorpion was developed in the late 1950s in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic by Miroslav Rybář (Eng. Majroslav Rybar) with the working name "model 59". The design was completed in 1961 and named "Samopal Vz. 61", chambered in .32 ACP. It was subsequently adopted by the Czechoslovak Army and security forces, and soon it was adopted by the Spetsnaz units in Soviet Union. During the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army also adopted it, and soon Yugoslavia also began to produce the Škorpion under license, designating it the "Zastava M84." Even today, it is still being widely used by various third-world developing countries and armed groups such as the IRA and Italian Red Brigades. The Škorpion has multiple variants, like the vz. 82 (chambered in 9x18mm Makarov) and the CZ-91S (semi-automatic civilian version).

In Game[]

General Information[]

The Škorpion deals 34 maximum damage, and 19 minimum damage, making this weapon possess a 3SK ability in CQC with a rate of fire (RoF) of 850. It is great for room clearing where the 850 RoF would be quick to stop any enemies. This weapon is well paired with sniper loadouts due to its effectiveness and ability to kill enemies quickly.

The Škorpion has a lower muzzle velocity than most secondaries, at 1,200 studs per second.

Usage & Tactics[]

The Škorpion is great for movement with its fast walkspeed and CQC performance. However, even with a slower rate of fire compared to other machine pistols it will still quickly chew through ammo, so trigger discipline is a must. Frontal engagements are to be avoided for the most part and the Škorpion performs best when striking at an unprepared enemy. Try not to engage more than a few enemies at the same time, as the ammo capacity will quickly deplete, possibly forcing an empty reload or retreat. Long-ranged assaults are also to be avoided, as the 6SK and the low muzzle velocity at longer ranges means that the user would find itself having a hard time trying to gun down an enemy without letting them have the chance to retaliate.

However, when dealing with one enemy at close range, this gun excels. Its assault-rifle-like damage allows it to 3sk to the limb at close range, at a very similar firerate to that of the M16A3, essentially turning it into a pocket AR. This can be very useful when using a gun with a slow firerate, like that of a Sniper or DMR, as it can be used as a panic secondary when the user misses their shots in close range.

In terms of Ammo, the Rat Shot conversion can be very effective at quickly dispatching small amounts of enemies in Close Quarters Combat (CQC), as it can 2sk to the limb if all pellets connect. This does eliminate what ranged preformance the Škorpion possessed, so a ranged primary is necessary if the user wishes to have a long-range option. If CQC preformance is not a necessity, one may wish to equip the 9x18 as it increases the ranged preformance of this gun along with its velocity. This conversion also pairs well with the Long Barrel attachment and Full Stock to effectively create a "pocket PDW". The magazine size is also increased to assist with long-range fights, where more shots will be needed to kill the enemy.

Conclusion[]

Overall, the Škorpion is a very well rounded and reliable machine pistol and is useful in many situations, trading TTK for more reliable performance at greater ranges, though its strength quickly falters out at range.

Pros and Cons[]

Pros:

  • Low vertical recoil.
  • Good ammo efficiency.
  • Good ammo reserve.
  • Fast reload.
  • Good damage, allowing for a 3SK within its maximum damage range.
  • Various selection of ammunition conversions.
  • Comes with an Extended Stock attachment available as soon as you obtain it, allowing for even greater recoil control.

Cons:

  • Slightly obstructive iron sights.
  • Fourth slowest rate of fire in class, only beating out the Arm Pistol, PP-2000 and the ASMI.
  • Problematic magazine size for it's fire rate.
  • Lowest muzzle velocity in class.
  • Extremely high horizontal drift when firing, even with a Compensator.

Trivia[]

  • The Škorpion vz. 61, along with the HK417, GB-22, and Arm Pistol were released on January 1, 2021 (New Year Update).
  • The Škorpion is one of two machine pistols with an extended stock unlocked by default, the other being the Micro Uzi.
    • However, despite the visual change, this has no actual effect on recoil, or anything gameplay-wise at all.
  • When attaching an Other attachment such as a Laser, the Škorpion's stock is shown unfolded.
    • However, the model's extended stock does not affect the recoil stats, similar to the Micro Uzi.
  • The Škorpion equipped with rubber pellets has the highest magazine capacity out of any machine pistol at 50 rounds.
  • The Škorpion has optics mounted on its barrel because a picatinny rail is unable to be mounted since the cartridge casings eject straightly upwards. This is also the reason you cannot attach iron sights from other weapons.
  • When attaching the 9x18mm conversion, it renames it from the vz. 61 to the vz. 82. When attaching the Ratshot conversion, it renames it to the vz.61-E.
