A traditional machete with a lot of history and its fair share of combat. All you need now is a hockey mask. Functionally identical to the Machete.

–In-game description

The Jason is a One Handed Blade. It is unlocked at rank 119, or it can be purchased with credits.

History

This weapon is named after Jason Voorhees, the main antagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise and is modeled after the machete that he has been known to slaughter his victims with.

This specific machete is a bush machete. The bush machete is a pattern designed by Collins & Company in the early 1900s. It was later adopted by the US military during World War II as the Model 1942 machete. It eventually became the one of the most common styles of machete found in America, especially South American countries, hence the "Latin machete style" can be considered synonymous with a bush machete.

While this style of machete is traditionally seen in movies with tropical environments, the Russians do have a variant intended for the taiga.

In-Game

General Information

The Jason copies all of its stats from the Machete. This means that it's a generally middle-of-the-road melee weapon. However, its most outstanding factor is the extra blade range, at 4.3 studs. This puts it on par with some shorter ranged two-handed melee weapons. Since it is simply just the Machete, swing rates are relatively fast, but not as fast as other blades.

Usage and Tactics

Treat the Jason like the Machete in that while one's swings are slower, they also have much better reach. Remember that the striking point is at the tip of the blade, meaning that the large majority of the weapon has the potential to clip through glass or other players, so maintain some distance before attempting to strike an opponent or window. This can be problematic in close quarters.

Conclusion

The Jason is essentially a direct upgrade to the Machete, with extra range on top of the already well-rounded stats of the Machete.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Longest range out of any one handed melee weapon.
  • Quick slash speed.

Cons:

  • Rest of the stats are no different from the Machete.

Trivia

  • This melee weapon is named after Jason Voorhees, from the Friday The 13th franchise's main villain, as this weapon was added as part of the Halloween Update.
    • The description also references this, as it also includes the trademark sound effect from the movies.
