A skin is a set of textures that players can apply to zones of their weapons, with minimal exceptions. They are divided in 5 rarities, listed with their base drop rates:
- Common (60.00% Base Drop Rate)
- Uncommon (26.00% Base Drop Rate)
- Rare (10.00% Base Drop Rate)
- Very Rare (3.00% Base Drop Rate)
- Legendary (1.00% Base Drop Rate)
For every case opening, the Drop Rate gets modified. Legendary drop rates increase 0.25% per case opened. Very Rare drop rates increase 0.50% per case opened. Common drop rates decrease 0.50% per case opened and Uncommon drop rates decrease 0.25% per case opened. Rare drop rates remain at 10% all the time. If the player rolls a Very Rare or Legendary Skin, the drops rates are reset.
Normal Skins
Normal skins are non-customizable skins that the player can get in most skin cases. They are usually lower tier skins, and do not feature any sort of control over how the skin is visually presented.
Customizable Skins
Unlike normal skins, customizable skins feature the ability to edit brick color, brick material, texture color, and texture scale. These skins are usually much rarer. In cases like Fauna or Fauna 2, customizable skins are marked with an asterisk. The asterisk convention is not exactly well kept, with some case with no duplicates featuring asterisks, while others feature the asterisks.
"All*" type Skins
The "All*" type skins, introduced in version 8.0.0 after a giveaway hosted in the Stylis Discord Server, are an exclusive type of skins that CAN NOT be currently obtained in game through normal means. Only the developers can grant access to these skins. These skins are functionally identical to other skins, but instead of being restrained to just one weapon, these skins can be used across every weapon and melee in the game, as the "All*" name would suggest.
Selling Skins
Skins obtained can usually be sold, the price depending on the rarity as well as the Tier of the case they were rolled from. The price of all skins is determined with the following formula:
where equals rarity and equals key price.
The value of goes from 1 (Common) to 5 (Legendary )*, while represents the price of the case's key. The result of this formula is then passed through Roblox's math.floor() function to round it to the nearest integer. This value is not affected by Legendary skins.
Legendary Items
If the players get lucky, they can roll a "Mystery Item" of Legendary rarity, which will grant them a skin for a randomly selected melee weapon which has a random chance of being a melee weapon the player does not own. If the legendary skin obtained is for a melee weapon the player doesn't have, they will be granted access to said Melee weapon. Certain Melees in the game can only be obtained through this method.
The following Melee Weapons can only be unlocked through Legendary rolls:
- Cleaver
- Karambit
- Hunting Knife
- Mek'leth
- Tactical Spatula
- Chosen One
- Longsword
- Hattori
- Nordic War Axe

Buying Cases and Keys and Assigning Weapons to Cases
Players can spend Credits, or alternatively Robux, to buy Cases and their respective keys, independent of each other. The price of a case key is always twice the price of the case (Example: The Starter Case costs 50 Credits, the Starter Key costs 100 Credits). The Robux prices are always a tenth of the credit prices (e.g. The Starter Case costs 50 credits or 5 Robux).
When a player purchases a case, they are given the option to set the case to drop skins for one specific weapon before completing the purchase. They cannot change their weapon of choice once the transaction has been completed. If the players want to assign a weapon to a case obtained through the victory bonuses or for a case they bought unassigned, they have to pay a small fee that ranges from 15 to 50 credits depending on the tier of the case. Assigning a Weapon to a Case does not prevent it from dropping skins for melee weapons.
Trading In Skins
Players who chose to can decide to exchange 6 skins of the same rarity for one skin of the next rarity level (Example: Trading in 6 Common Skins will return an Uncommon Skin in Exchange). The game only allows players to trade in skins from the same case, with the only exception being skins from the 4 Starter Cases and the "Jungle" skin from the COR5 with the Common Skins of the Uniform Case. The skin that the player obtains in return will be a randomly selected skin of the superior rarity from the case the previously traded skins come from. This method can be used to obtain legendary skins.
Blueprints
Added in Version 10, Players can also buy Blueprints, which are pre-built weapon loadouts that also include a skin for the weapon that the player is buying.

Trivia
- The Starter Case, as of November 2, 2021, is the most opened case in Phantom Forces, with 1,098,340 openings during that month alone.
- The Starter Case is the Case Category with the least amount of editable skins, with only the "Gold*" skin being editable.
- The "Diamond*" and "Tanzanite*" skins in the Starter 3 and Starter 4 cases feature a custom texture.
- They also feature an asterisk despite not being editable, a characteristic also shared with the Very Rare skins of the other cases in its category.
- Tier I crates are the only category in which skins from different cases can be used for trade-ins, said cases being the Starter cases 1 to 4 only.
- The resulting skin will be randomly selected from the 4 Starter cases.
