Press T to use backup irons. Aftermarket version of the scope mounted on the AUG A1. Made by Swarovski Optik.
–In-game description

The Swarovski Scope is an Austrian Telescopic Sight. It is unlocked by attaining 1355 kills with a weapon, or can be purchased with credits.

History[]

Swarovski is an Austrian, family-owned,glass production company founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895, currently based in Wattens, Austria.

The company is split into three major industry areas: the Swarovski Crystal Business, which primarily produces crystal glass, jewellery and accessories; Swarovski Optik, which produces optical instruments such as telescopes, telescopic sights for rifles, and binoculars; and Tyrolit, a manufacturer of grinding, sawing, drilling, and dressing tools, as well as a supplier of tools and machines.[1]

During the Nazi occupation of Austria, commonly known as the Anschluss(German: "Union"), the head of the company at the time, Alfred Swarovski, took advantage of his political connections with the NSDAP, governing political party of the Nazi Regime, in order to land contracts and secure employees for Tyrolit, as well as cooperating in the development of telescopic sights for the Wehrmacht, all between 1938 and 1945, when the Allies occupied Austria, an occupation that would last until 1955.

Following the post-war occupation, the Austrian Army, in conjunction with Steyr, began developing the Steyr AUG in the 1960s, but it wouldn't be completed and adopted until 1978. For this purpose, Swarovski developed their own sight, although whether it was by commission or contract is unknown. Regardless of motives, the sight was built into the AUG and became its integral sight with 1.5x magnification, along with back-up iron sights. In December 1997, A NATO-Standard Picatinny rail was introduced, along with a detachable carry handle.

Model In-Game[]

While pinpointing model discrepancies is hard, there are some mechanical discrepancies that can be noted. The Swarovski Scope has 4x Zoom, while in real life it has 1.5x magnification. As well, the sight on its own does not include Picatinny rails on top. However, the sight does show them whenever the user attaches any optic, including another Swarovski Scope, which shouldn't be possible, as the Swarovski Scope is integrated into the receiver

In-Game[]

General Information[]

The Swarovski Scope, also known as the 'AUG A1 scope' it is available for all Assault Rifles including the AUG A1 itself. It has a medium magnification, resulting in more recoil depending on the guns this optic is equipped on.

Usage & Tactics[]

This sight is mostly used for medium-far ranged performance but also equipped with an iron sight, same as the AUG A1's sight. With mostly a lot of recoil, using barrel attachments would help with far range performance, using a suppressor is NOT recommended if you're planning on using this at medium to far range. Iron sights equipped for CQC, to use the iron sights, press T.

Conclusion[]

Coming soon.

Trivia[]

  • On the AUG A1's model it is placed quite far above the gun itself, however this is not an issue in Phantom Forces as bullets come straight from the reticle in Phantom Forces when scoped in, as a quality of life feature.
  • This scope can be stabilised by holding left shift (by default) due to its magnification.
  • It's somewhat strange to see that the AUG A1 actually can use another Swarovski scope on it, making it a dual Swarovski Scope.
